Sea Life: COEX

An immersive exhibit featuring colorful water-themed projections and jellyfish displays in a darkened room. Visitors explore interactive installations with illuminated floors and walls showcasing marine life imagery.

Shortly before leaving Seeper, I produced work for my third (possibly fourth?) Sea life project. The theme was Sea at Night at COEX, Seoul. I worked with the truly formidable Chris Farkouh to concept a number of new attractions and interactives. I left before it was all delivered and I don’t know how much of it survived contact, but here is some of the early development work.

Front desk – some visualisation and design development.

Giant Jelly – interactive Jellyfish development

Jelly Tunnel – using orthographic projection to create a disorientating immersion

Plankton – interactive floor projection

Designed so that camera tracking would cause disturbances in the floor plankton, while building a projected reaction around the wall-based tank.

Penguin pals – interactive projection involving penguins

Rockpools – Interactive digital tables. We’ve long looked at the possibility of creating waterproof screens with a thin film of water over them to add that truly immersive touch. 🙂

Miscellaneous – snaps of other bits including ocean tunnel and interactives
